Abstract

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) are parasites that are effective in controlling plant pests that can be propagated in vivo. In vivo propagation requires a host because EPN is an obligate parasite, one of which is the larvae of Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae). These larvae are easy to obtain, easy to cultivate, easy to use, have a short life cycle, and have a high nutritional content. This study aimed to examine the suitability of H. illucens larvae in the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema spp. in vivo propagation. This research was conducted by examining the mortality rate and infection rate of EPN in H. illucens larvae with variations in wounds, concentrations of infective nematodes, and larval size. The test results were compared with the larvae of T. molitor which are commonly used as hosts. The results of the mortality rate study showed that injured H. illucens larvae were more susceptible to the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema spp.. There was a significant difference in mortality rates between uninjured and injured although there was no difference in results due to variations in EPN concentrations. The infection rate test showed a significant difference in wound variation and larval size of H. illucens although the results were not good enough when compared to the level of infection of T. molitor larvae. Keywords:  Hermetia illucens, Tenebrio molitor, Steinernema spp., Entomopathogenic nematodes, In vivo

Abstract

Pepper (Piper nigrum L.) is one of the estate crops with high economic value and a foreign exchange earner for Indonesia, but its productivity is still low. For this reason, nutrient management is essential to increase the productivity of pepper parent plants. This study aimed to obtain the best composition of foliar fertilizer for pepper parent plant growth, obtain the best spraying frequency of foliar fertilizer for pepper parent plant growth, and obtain the best combination of composition and spraying frequency of foliar fertilizer for pepper parent plant growth. The study was conducted from November 2020 to April 2021 using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a factorial pattern of 4 × 2. The first factor was the composition of foliar fertilizers with four levels of treatment, namely control (D0), NPK foliar fertilizers 11:8:6 (D1), NPK foliar fertilizer 20:15:15 (D2), and NPK foliar fertilizer 32:10:10 (D3). The second factor is spraying frequency of foliar fertilizer with two levels of treatment, namely every two weeks (F1) and every four weeks (F2). Each treatment was repeated three times and each experimental unit consisted of two parent plants. Observational data was analyze using analysis of variance and continued with the honestly significant difference test (HSD) at the 5% level. The results showed that the composition of NPK foliar fertilizer 20:15:15 with the spraying frequency every two weeks gave a significant effect but did not give the best effect. Significant interactions were shown in the observation variables of number of leaf, number of internode, leaf greenness index, leaf area number three, and leaf dry weight number three.

Abstract

Tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L.) terus mengalami peningkatan produksi seiring tingginya permintaan. Produksi tinggi yang berkualitas menuntut adanya pengembangan metode dan salah satu solusinya yaitu menggunakan Dutch Bucket Hydroponic System. Metode ini membutuhkan sebuah penelitian dengan tujuan mengetahui pengaruh perlakuan yang diberikan dan perlakuan terbaik untuk rekomendasi bagi petani maupun praktisi. Rancangan penelitian berbasis metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan dua perlakuan yaitu variasi media tanam yaitu cocopeat (A1), hidroton (A2), dan rockwool (A3) sedangkan variasi konsentrasi nutrisi AB mix yaitu 1000 ppm (A1), 2000 ppm (A2), dan 3000 ppm (A3). Penelitian dilakukan dengan 9 kombinasi perlakuan dan 3 ulangan dengan mengamati diameter batang, tinggi tanaman, jumlah bunga, jumlah buah, berat segar tanaman, berat basah akar, dan berat buah pertanaman. Lokasi penelitiam di Agrotechnopark Universitas Jember pada bulan Januari-April 2022 dengan metode ANOVA dan DMRT. Perlakuan jenis media tanam, konsentrasi nutrisi AB mix, dan interaksi keduanya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap parameter penelitian. Hasil terbaik pada berbagai perlakuan terdapat pada media tanam cocopeat dan konsentrasi nutrisi 2000 ppm yang dapat menjadi rekomendasi dalam budidaya tanaman tomat dengan sistem hidroponik dutch bucket.

Abstract

Daun lamtoro (Leucaenaleucocephala) mengandung unsur hara N, P, dan K untuk menambah unsur hara pada tanaman.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pemupukan organik cair (POC) daun lamtoro yang diaplikasikan pada berbagai waktu berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang daun (Allium fistulosum L.).  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di KebunPercobaan 2 STIPER Dharma Wacana Metro di Jalan Wana Bakti 3, KelurahanMargerejo, Kecamatan Metro Selatan,Kota Metro. Pelaksaan penelitian dilakukan pada bulan November 2021 – Januari 2022. Rancangan penelitian ini disusun secara faktor tunggal menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Teracak Lengkap (RKTL) terdiri atas POC daun lamtoro 150, 300, dan 450  mL polybag-1 yang diaplikasikan dengan interval waktu pemberian masing-masing 5 hari sekali, 7 hari sekali,dan 9 hari sekali. Masing-masing kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 (tiga) kali, data yang diperoleh diuji dengan analisis ragam yang sebelumnya telah diuji homogenitasnya dengan uji Bartlet dan ketidakaditifan diuji dengan uji Tuckey dan dilanjutkan dengan perbandingan orthogonal kontras, semua pengujian dilakukan pada taraf nyata 5%.  Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian POC daun lamtoro tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap semua peubah, yaitu: tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, hasil tanaman per polybag, laju pertumbuhan relatif, laju asimilasi bersih, kecuali pada nisbah luas daun melalui uji ortogonal yang diberikan pada dosis 150 mL polybag-1 dengan interval waktu 7 hari sekali lebih tinggi 25,59% daripada pengaplikasian dosis 300 dan 450 mL polybag-1.

Abstract

Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) merupakan satu komoditas strategis pendukung perekonomian di Nagekeo. Tanaman kakao yang tua dan kurang produktif, pemeliharaan yang kurang intensif serta hama dan penyakit adalah penyebab rendahnya produktivitas kakao dibandingkan daerah penghasil kakao lain di Indonesia.  Penelitian untuk mengetahui hama dan penyakit penting pada buah kakao di Kabupaten Nagekeo dilakukan di perkebunan rakyat di 3 kecamatan, yaitu Kecamatan Boawae, Mauponggo dan Keo Tengah. Pada setiap lokasi diambil 20 lahan contoh seluas 0,5 ha. Penarikan tanaman contoh dilakukan dengan pola diagonal. Parameter yang diamati adalah gejala kerusakan dan  intensitas serangan oleh hama dan penyakit penting. Dua jenis hama penting, yaitu  hama kepik pengisap buah kakao (Helopeltis sp) dan penggerek buah kakao (Conopomorpha cramerella) dengan tingkat kerusakan Helopeltis sp paling tinggi terjadi di Kecamatan Boawae yaitu 23,95%, Kecamatan Keo Tengah yaitu 20,95%, Kecamatan Mauponggo intensitas serangan sebesar 20,10% intensitas serangan PBK tertinggi di Kecamatan Boawae yaitu 6,11%, Kecamatan Keo Tengah sebesar 4,76% sedangkan Kecamatan Mauponggo intensitasnya hanya mencapai 2,35%. Penyakit penting kakao yang ditemukan adalah  busuk buah (Phytophthora palmivora) dengan keparahan penyakit Phytophthora palmivora paling tinggi terjadi di Kecamatan Keo Tengah yaitu 5,11% jika dibandingkan dengan Kecamatan Boawae dan Mauponggo yaitu sebesar 3,25% dan 1,28%.Kata Kunci: perkebunan rakyat, hama dan penyakit

Abstract

Planted corn by intensively made decreased soil health and decreasing soil capacity to support plant growth caused of nutrient is not available, poor microbial activity, increasing soil acidity and soil crusting. If this problem do in long term, it will make decrease soil reciliency and decrease plant producitvity. This research was aim to investigate of soil health assesment with cornell method on some plant pattern by corn at Kenagarian Mungka. This research used explorative descriptive method through land survey and soil analyses in the laboratory. The samples were taken based on purposive random sampling. There were three land unit planted by corn with plant pattern are monoculture corn, corn-eggplant and corn-cassava. Each selected soil indicator scoring to discover the soil health correlation test to know relation between parameter with soil health.This research showed that Mungka’s land unit  planted by corn have moderate-high category for soil health, monoculture corn had the highest soil health by 65.96, corn-cassava had soil health value by 63.94 and the lowest is corn-eggplant with 63.35 soil health value. This research used three component of soil those are soil chemical, biology, and physic. This research showed that some indicator have the significant determinant indicator for soil health are OM (r=0,9209), pH (r=0,9471), and respiration (r=0,6055). Farmer was do the addition of organic matter from poultry manure to the land regularly. Based on this research, organic matter is the most important thing to keep soil health especially to encourage corn productivity.

Abstract

Quality soybean seeds are one of the essential factors to support soybean production. One of the obstacles in providing quality soybean seeds was the physiological quality of soybean seeds declined speedily during storage, especially in open storage. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological quality of yellow soybean seeds during a six-month storage period. This research was carried out from October 2020 to March 2021 in the seed analysis laboratory of the Seed Technology Study Program, Lampung State Polytechnic. The study used a Split-Plot Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications. The main plot was the seed storage period which consists of seven levels, specifically 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 months. Sub-plots were soybean variety which consists of two levels, specifically  Dega variety and Deja variety. The results of the study indicated that (1) Deja variety had higher physiological quality than Dega variety based on germination, vigor index, growth speed, growth, maximum growth potential, and seed moisture content during the six-month storage period (2) Deja variety had longer storability than Dega variety in open storage.Keywords: Soybean, Physiological quality, Open storage.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis dan konsentrasi POC serta mengatahui pengaruh jenis POC terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tomat rampai bergantung pada penambahan konsentrasi POC. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial (2 x 4) dengan tiga ulangan sebagai kelompok. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis POC dan faktor kedua yaitu konsentrasi POC. Penelitian ini diuji dengan uji Bartlett (homogenitas) dan uji Tukey (additivitas) yang kemudian dilakukan analisis ragam (uji F), dilanjutkan pemisahan nilai tengah menggunakan BNT dengan taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jenis POC kulit pisang lebih baik daripada POC kotoran kambing pada variabel pengamatan jumlah, diameter buah, dan berat kering brangkasan. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi POC hingga 120 ml/l air akan meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tomat rampai pada variabel pengamatan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, cabang produktif, berat buah, jumlah buah, diameter buah, berat basah brangkasan, dan berat kering brangkasan. Pengaruh jenis POC bergantung terhadap pemberian konsentrasi POC terjadi pada variabel pengamatan tinggi tanaman.
